Nexgen Codecamp would like to invite your school to participate in the “Nexgen Self-Drive Car Challenge 2020”, which is a competition for Year 8-11 students to design and build a car capable of driving itself purely from a camera using Artifical Intelligence whilst reporting back via a Microsoft Azure Cloud infrastructure.
Teams must design, build, train, simulate & test a self-drive car using camera vision only (A.I.). They must build the car with an onboard computer, write the code to control the car, train the A.I. model and drive the car firstly around a simulator, but then around a real track. Obstacles may also be need to be avoided. Sound like a challenge?
Ten (10) school teams from the Sydney area will be invited to design and build a self-drive car using A.I. technology. These cars will compete in an event on the 11-12 June 2020 at Meriden School, Sydney against other teams. All participating teams will receive guidance from a Nexgen mentor during the process of designing, coding and building of the robots.
Each school is allowed to field one team consisting of 6 students. The team should be mixed gender (in case of co-educational schools) and made up of students from years 8 - 11.
Each team will receive training and support from Nexgen during the process of creating their robot (prior to the competition).
Do you have any experience with micro-controllers and/or coding? If the answer is 'yes' then you are eligible to enter the Nexgen Self Drive Car challenge. Whilst there is an element of Cloud technology using Microsoft Azure, no prior knowledge is assumed. If you are interested in taking part, please download an invitation below and get in touch.
Rules and T&Cs are in the process of being written/published. We will send these to you as soon as they are available.
